Please note: Starting from Aug 2023, we have made a transition from Google Classroom to the website for all volunteer-related forms
Volunteers play the most fundamental role at National Alzheimer’s Buddies, spending time with their buddies and building a 1-on-1 relationship with them. Being a volunteer comes with certain requirements:
All volunteers need to complete the volunteer training quiz before beginning to volunteer with NAB. This must be completed after your chapters have gone over the volunteer training with you.
All volunteers are expected to attend a ONE-HOUR volunteer shift with their buddy on a WEEKLY basis (a limited number of absences are allowed per school term).
After EVERY volunteer shift, volunteers must fill out the journal response form to reflect on their time with their buddy. Note: only hours recorded on the journal response form will be counted towards the certificate (more later). The journal response form can be found here:
All volunteers are required to attend reflection meetings with their chapters EVERY OTHER WEEK to learn from their fellow volunteers and share their experiences with their buddy.
If you have volunteered with NAB for 30 hours or more, you can request an official CERTIFICATE. Note: only the hours recorded through the journal response form on a regular basis will be counted towards the certificate. Hours that are not documented will not count.
Note: If any issue of immediate attention arises during your volunteer visits, please contact your chapter director directly.
